Publication award for paper about placebo learning mechanisms

On the annual Psychology Prizes event of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University, it was announced that IPS member Hans van Lennep won the Best PhD Published Article Award of the academic year 2022-2023. In his winning paper “The Optimal Learning Cocktail for Placebo Analgesia: A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Individual and Combined Techniques,”  Hans (together with his colleagues) investigated the effects of individual and combined application of 3 learning techniques (verbal suggestions, classical conditioning, and observational learning) on placebo analgesia and extinction. Nominated papers were rated on originality, quality, style and argumentation and the substantive contribution to the relevant discipline. The paper was rated by the committee as a 'very impactful study of high quality with large sample size. It had original methodological questions, crucial for the progression of the novel field with great potential and it was very well written'. Congratulations Hans!
