Two IPS Researchers Win Prestigious SIPS Early Career Award

We are proud to announce that two researchers from the Center for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies (IPS), Dr. Stefanie Meeuwis and Dr. Aleksandrina Skvortsova, have been awarded the SIPS Early Career Award by the Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies (SIPS).

Every two years, SIPS honors outstanding early-career scientists for their exceptional contributions to placebo and nocebo research. Recipients are selected by an independent committee of experts based on their scientific achievements, clinical impact, and leadership in the field. This year, both Dr. Meeuwis and Dr. Skvortsova stood out for their innovative work, dedication, and scientific excellence.

Dr. Stefanie Meeuwis

The evaluation committee is delighted to award the Early Career Award to Dr. Stefanie Meeuwis in recognition of her remarkable achievements and contributions to placebo and nocebo research.

Despite being in the early stages of her career, Dr. Meeuwis is already regarded as an established researcher in the field. Her work is characterized by experimental rigor and clinical relevance, with publications in leading scientific journals.

In addition to her research excellence, Dr. Meeuwis has demonstrated strong leadership in open science and has played key organizational roles in major placebo research meetings. Her work spans impactful, translational topics and reflects a deep and ongoing commitment to advancing the field.

The committee congratulates Dr. Meeuwis on this well-earned recognition.

Dr. Aleksandrina Skvortsova

The evaluation committee is pleased to present the Early Career Award to Dr. Aleksandrina Skvortsova in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field.

Dr. Skvortsova has led innovative trials investigating placebo effects in the hormonal system and diabetes, resulting in novel and valuable insights. She has demonstrated exceptional achievement by securing multiple grants and awards, and successfully establishing her own research lab in the Netherlands.

Beyond her scientific accomplishments, Dr. Skvortsova has shown strong leadership in open science initiatives and played a key role in organizing a previous SIPS conference. Her interdisciplinary research stands out as highly promising and continues to advance the field in impactful ways.

The committee congratulates Dr. Skvortsova on this well-deserved recognition.
